The Beeville Trojan varsity golf teams were in action Monday at Rockport.

The Trojans went head to head with five other high schools and came home with medals and a third place trophy.

James Scotten was the low medalist for the Trojans with an 84. Daniel Fernandez carded an 89 while Brody Benavides came in with a 91 for his 18 holes. Kelsey Wright and James Larakers both posted 96’s, and Kyle Wright posted a 118.

The Trojan team score was a 360. First place went to IWA from Corpus with a 291. Second place went to Calallen with a team score of 306.

The Trojan girls were represented by Anissa Cantu, who finished in the top 15 of 35 girls competing with a 96.

“The Trojans improved from two weeks ago. We are on the right track, we are improving,” said golf coach Craig Billman.

“Our 360 is the lowest score we have shot in Rockport in the last four years. Our performance Monday is a huge boost to our confidence.”

The Trojan golf teams will host their own tournament on March 21-22 at the Beeville Country Club.
