The JV basketball team defeated Freer on Tuesday, Dec. 16th with a score of 33-11. The Lady Horns scored five points in the first quarter and eight in the second for a halftime lead of 13-3. In the second half, GW came out with a full court press. The Lady Horns played with a lot of intensity and aggressiveness which forced turnovers and led to a 12 point third quarter score. GW kept up the pressure scoring eight points in the fourth quarter. The score was 33-11.

Elizabeth Cansino led all scoring with 11 points, Alexa Wheeler eight, Amber Villafranca and Courtney Larson had four each and Sidney Williamson, Kiesha Lazo and Kaity Taylor each contributed two.

The GW JV team hosted their second district match of the season against Natalia on Friday, Jan. 2. Both teams got off to a slow start only scoring four points each in the first quarter. GW rolled ahead in the second quarter scoring 12 while Natalia only managed to score six.

In the second half, The Lady Horns out scored Natalia 14 to 4 winning the game with a score of 30-14. Larson led GW with eight points, Kelsi Wallek scored seven points, Whitley Combs added six, Rylie Shannon five and Alexa Wheeler four.
