Pettus athletes earn district honors

The Pettus Eagles and Lady Eagles garnered several spots on the District 31-1A postseason basketball teams as announced recently by the district’s coaches.

On the boys’ side of the ledger, Ryan Beck was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year along with Tyler Pate from Port Aransas.

First team all-district honors were bestowed on Hunter Tomlin and Clay Brown for their fine seasons under head coach Steve Marbach.

Tim Gill earned second team honors for the Eagles while Eric Montez and Casey Jones both made the district honorable mention list.

The academic all-district team had Eagles Brown, Taylor Yeoman, Uises Juarez, Grayson Huskey, Beck, Jones, Montez and James Constante. These student/athletes were in good standing on the basketball team and maintained a 90 plus average in the classroom.

The Lady Eagles had two players earn first team status with Marissa Carrizales and Chloe Garza garnering the selections. The guard tandem led the Lady Eagles this season under head coach Darcy Siddon.

The all-district second team also had two from PHS as Hailee Schauer and Ashley Duran earned spots. The Lady Eagles placed three players on the honorable mention list with Ryan Grayson, Madi Garza and Destiny Carrillo making the coaches’ list.

The academic all-district list included Mari Carrizales, Kelsey Brown, Chloe Garza, Madi Garza, Ryan Grayson and Hannah Huskey.
