Mr. Garza was born on July 9, 1922, in San Patricio County. He was a self-employed truck driver and was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Cursillo De Cristiandad and St. James Catholic Church. He served his country with the U.S. Marine Corp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elena P. Garza; his parents, Serafin and Bernadina Y. Garza; two sons, Ysrael P. Garza and Ylario P. Garza I; and three brothers, Maximiliano Garza, Rogelio Y. Garza and Simon Y. Garza.
Survivors include 10 sons, Ysabel P. (Herminia) Garza Jr. and Yrineo P. (Norma) Garza, both of Houston, Ygnacio P. (Petra) Garza, Yliazar P. Garza, Ylario P. Garza II, Ysaias P. Garza and Ysidro P. (Sonia) Garza, all of Beeville, Ysa P. (Mary) Garza of Killeen, Yndelesio P. (Susan) Garza of Berclair and Ysmael P. Garza of Corpus Christi; three daughters; Yolanda G. Aleman of Beeville, Yrma P. (Johnny) Landrum of Fort Worth and Yda G. (Larry Joe) Aguilar of Lubbock; one sister, Aurora G. Gonzalez of Olton; and one brother, Jose Maria Y. Garza of Nashville, Tenn.; 46 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Treviño Funeral Home with a rosary recited that evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were Michael Garza, Javier Garza, Christopher Aleman, Israel Garza, Gabriel Garza and Larry Garza Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Justin Garza, Ricky Garcia, Noah Garza, Ashton McKinney, Lee Roy Garza, Jacobo Garza and Stephen Garza.
