Texas Counties can name roads after fallen soldiers. Saturday Hobson Texas held a ceremony to rename the streets after six men lost in World War II. Jay Blanchard, Melick Janacek, Casper Hons, Zigmund Hons, Oscar Koneig and James Mutchler were residents of Hobson before going to war. These men were among the largest amount of men lost in the Karnes County area to World War II. Blanchard was actually killed after the war had been declared over, but a sniper had not gotten the news and killed him.
