Meregilda Banda, age 91, of Karnes City, passed away December 1, 2009 in San Antonio.  She was born in Mexico to Pablo Banda and Antonia Banda on April 13, 1918.  She lived most of her life in Karnes County; moving to Karnes City from Fashing.  She was a homemaker, a seamstress, a member of the Guadalupanas Society, and a member of the St. Cornelius Catholic Church.  She is survived by her brother Daniel Banda of San Antonio, her son Adolfo Palmarez of Karnes City, her granddaughters Valerie Palmarez of Poth and Lisa Isela Garcia of Floresville, grandson Adolfo Palmarez, Jr. of Karnes City; niece Minerva Castillo of Victoria; nephews Lupe Palmarez of San Antonio, and Lorenzo Palmarez of Karnes City.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.  A Rosary was recited at 7 PM, Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City.  A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 PM, Friday, December 4, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Mission in Fashing.  Interment followed in the Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Fashing.  Services are entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home-Karnes City-Runge.  (800) 780-3334.  You are invited to sign the online guestbook at
