Barett Lane McDonald, age 30, passed away on July 18, 2009, in San Antonio.
Barett graduated from Winston Churchill High School, where he also met his beloved wife, Shelly. After graduation, they basked in the joy of raising their two children. Barett loved to play guitar and sing, hunt, fish and coach his kids’ soccer games. He had a wonderful sense of humor, always playing jokes. One of his greatest achievements was becoming a helicopter pilot and discovering the complete joy of flying. Barett was great with his hands, whether around the house or making special pieces for family and friends. To know Barett was to love him and he never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Doris and Don McDonald; maternal grandfather, Harry Collins; and uncle, Jerry McDonald.
He is survived by his wife of ten years, Shelly McDonald; son, Tyler Rance McDonald; daughter, Jacey Nicole McDonald; parents, Linley and Carolyn McDonald; maternal grandmother, Vera Collins; adopted grandfather, Dr. O.A. Rinn; parents-in-law, Jim Chase and wife Martha, Carolyn and Stephen Craig; three brothers, Brett and wife Janet, Linley L. McDonald Jr., and wife Tasha and Raymond Boultt and wife Sherry; sister, Kathy Hale and husband Ricky, Sunnie Osbourne and husband Diego; nieces, Shelby Lynn Chase, Kolbie Noelle Chase, Caitlin Ashley McDonald, Courtney and Casey Boultt; nephews, Hunter James Chase, Christian Dakota Chase, Liam Cecil, Connor James McDonald; brothers-in-law, Chris Chase, Jimmy Chase, Jamie Haynes and wife Nisha; best friends, John Lee and wife Rachel and Dean Hillman.
The service was held on Friday, July 24, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
