A proposed ordinance for the regulation of animals and fowl within Karnes City made a brief appearance at City Council's regular meeting February 23.

Council tabled the item, citing questions about language and concerns about how the proposed ordinance would affect students involved in FFA or other youth projects.

The city attorney has advised council that the proposed ordinance would not allow owners of existing animals to be grandfathered, and that the existing nuisance ordinances would still apply.  Mayor Don Tymrak said it will likely be another two or three meetings before council decides on the future of the ordinance.
