Both debates started off with the question: “What does it take to get a road paved around here?” and went on from there.

Candidates for the major county offices fielded questions that touched on many hot topices including budgets, commissioner’s pay, spending freezes and the proposed county annex.

More than 125 people showed up for the debate among county judge candidates, somewhat more than attended the debate among county commissioner candidates on Thursday.Turn to page 8 and 9 of this section for our report on the debates. In general, we tried to transcribe the debates for you here.
