Oliver Gonzales, 53, of Choate passed away October 9, in San Antonio. He was born to the late Fidel Gonzales, Sr. and Mary Rios Gonzales on May 1, 1957 in Choate.

Mr. Gonzales was a retired oil field worker and a member of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

He is survived by daughters, Misty (Gonzales) Mendoza of Kenedy, and Jolie Gonzales of Kenedy; sisters Aurelia DeLosSantos of San Antonio and Mary Ann Hamrick of Wichita Falls, Texas; and brothers, Fidel Gonzales, Jr. of Houston, Ted Gonzales of Houston, Henry Gonzales of Big Sandy, Texas, and Loy Gonzales of Kenedy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Manuel Gonzales, Alonzo Gonzales, and Santiago Gonzales.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Monday, October 11 at Eckols Chapel. Services were celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 12, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Interment followed at Choate Cemetery in Choate, Rev. Norbert Herman officiating.

Pallbearers were Freddy DeLosSantos, Ricky DeLosSantos, Manuel Gonzales, Jr., Eric Gonzales, Ted Gonzales, Jr., and Keith Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers were Christian Mendoza, Estevan Mendoza, Marcos David Salas, Jr., Dehlay Salas and Camryn Garza.
