Falls City Cross Country Finishes 3rd at District

The Falls City High School girls finished third overall at the District 31-A cross country meet October 25 in Corpus Christi.

Team members Maggie Holz, Emily Wiatrek, Katie Johnson, Kayla Kotara, Katie Pollok, Taylor Dziuk and Quincey Olenick will advance to the regional meet in San Antonio November 6 ay Brooks City Base. Dziuk also took home an individual medal with a ninth place finish overall.

The junior high participants also had a successful day. In the eighth grade girls’ division, Kaelan Cheatham, Grace Dzuik, Madison Olenick, Jennifer Pruski and Chloe Wilson finished second as a team. They missed the first place trophy only by two points. Out of these runners Cheatham received a first place medal; Olenick, a fourth place medal; and Wilson, a ninth place medal.

The seventh grade girls were the ones that brought home a championship trophy by finishing first as a team. Those girls were Brittany Lyssy, Hanna Lyssy, Abby Lubbock, Sara Moore and Alexis Sekula. Among these girls, Lyssy received a third place medal, Sara Moore, a seventh place medal; Abby Lubbock, an eighth place medal; and Brittany Lyssy, a 10th place medal.

The seventh grade boys that ran as individuals were Joseph Swierc, Gabe Jimerson and Kaleb Hons. All three of these boys finished in the top 10. Swierc finished first in the division, Hons finished fourth and Jimerson came in ninth.
