He had worked as a Dynamite Mine Worker and was a Foreman for migrant workers. Gilberto was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. He is survived by his wife, Isabel Soliz of Karnes City; sons, Abel G. Soliz of New Mexico, Luis G. Soliz and wife Mary Lou of Karnes City, and Gilbert Soliz III of Karnes City; daughters, Margarita G. Aguero and husband Tereso Camarillo of Karnes City, Mary Jane Ortiz of Karnes City, Lucy Zetino and husband Jose of Karnes City, Feliciana Castaneda and husband Carlos of Karnes City, Belia S. Griffith of Karnes City, and Dalia Sistos and husband Jimmy of Karnes City; 31 grandchildren; and 50 great grandchildren.
Gilberto is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frandcisco, and Demetrio Speedy Soliz; and sisters, Maria Rubio, Velia Campos, Veva Soliz, Rosa Soliz and Odelia Soliz.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Wednesday January 5 at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City with a funeral mass celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, January 6 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Karnes City Cemetery. Pallbearers for the funeral were as follows: Angel Ramos, Carlos Castenada Jr., Brian Sistos, Sergent Frank Lee Rodriguez, Air Force James Soliz, Specialist George Soliz, Joseph Soliz, tereso Camirroll, Sonny Soliz, and Luis Soliz Jr.
