Bluebonnet Days is Kenedy’s annual festival celebrating the bloom of spring wildflowers and welcoming visitors for food, fun and entertainment. Traditionally, the event includes a downtown parade and festival – this year at the Chesnutt Arena featuring food, refreshments, entertainment, games, children’s activities and much more. The event is hosted and sponsored by the Kenedy Chamber of Commerce.
• Karnes County Relay for Life, May 13-14, Kenedy High School Stadium.
The Karnes County Relay for Life event raises cancer awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society. The all-night event begins Friday evening and finishes Saturday morning with teams walking and running laps around the high school track in the annual fundraiser event.
• Kenedy Chamber of Commerce Banquet, June 18, Kenedy City Hall Auditorium.
Awards are presented at the annual event as well as information about Kenedy Chamber of Commerce and other community activities. The event traditionally includes an evening meal and entertainment.
• Runge Independence Day Celebration, July 2, Downtown Parade and Celebration at Runge VFW Hall.
Runge celebrates Independence Day in a big way with a morning downtown parade followed by afternoon entertainment and events on the Runge VFW Hall grounds. At dusk, there is a fireworks display alongside Lake Paul in Runge.
• Beaver Round-up, late July, Falls City Community Hall.
Former students of Falls City High School gather together annually at the Beaver Round-up for a community celebration. There is food, beverages and entertainment and special high school classes are honored at the annual event.
• Miss Karnes City Pageant, Sept. 10, Karnes City High School Auditorium.
High school contestants compete for scholarship prizes at the annual Miss Karnes City Pageant. The event is sponsored by the Karnes City Rotary Club and the Young Progressives.
• Lonesome Dove Fest, Sept. 16-17, Karnes County Youth Show Barn Grounds.
Karnes County’s biggest annual event celebrating the start of dove hunting season for the South Zone and welcomes visitors for a family-friendly event in celebration of hunting, fishing, outdoors activities, history and heritage. Food, refreshments, entertainment and exhibits welcome visitors to the annual fundraiser event for the Karnes City Rotary Club.
