WJH tennis team earned the district championship Saturday, May 7, in Port Aransas. Players are (first row) Vanessa Vasquez, Josie Gonzales, Amber Gray, Rogelio Arriaga (second row)Summer Scrimpsher, Kendall Wendland, Anna Garcia, Kristina Foster, Ragan Mitchell (third row) Trent Moses, Michelle Martinez, and Andy Villarreal.

The Woodsboro Junior high tennis team earned the district championship Saturday, May 7, in Port Aransas.

Eighth graders Vanessa Vasquez garnered first place in girls’ singles and Kendall Wendland and Anna Garcia seized first in girls’ doubles.

Eighth graders Amber Gray placed second in girls singles.

Michelle Martinez and Josie Gonzales placed second, and Summer Scrimpsher and Kristina Foster placed third in doubles.

Andy Villareal and Rogelio Arriaga placed third in eighth grade boys doubles, and Trent Moses placed third in eighth grade boys singles.

Ragan Mitchell placed fifth in 7th grade girls singles.

“Great job,” said Coach Amy Waer. “These athletes represented our school well!”
