Twelve George West High School Seniors received a $2,000 Bean/Dirks Scholarship for a total of $24,000. Scholarship recipients include: David Carvajal, Elizabeth Cansino, Salina Chapa, Maggie Ham, Cayleb Holt, Ty Jimerson, Tanner Klepac, Larissa Liska, Taylor McCumber, Cody Oxford, Juan Paiz and Arati Patel.

In George West, this scholarship is given in memory of Mrs. Billie June Dirks. Mrs. Dirks was a great supporter of education in the community of George West. It was a joy for her to see the students of George West pursue a college education. In her memory, her family established this scholarship fund so that students could see their dream of a college education become a reality. Because of this scholarship, many students over the years, have a great start in their first year of paying for college.
