Luke Hatfield and Renee Weaver of Sterling, Alaska are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

The prospective groom is the son of Dennis and Cindy Hatfield of George West. He is the grandson of Doris Hatfield of George West and the late Bobby Joe Hatfield and Janniece Berger of Deer Park and the late Robert Berger. He is a 2001 graduate of George West High School and served four years in the Marine Corps. He is currently employed by Arctic Slope Regional Corporation on the North Slope in the Arctic Circle.

The bride-elect is the daughter of LeeAnn and Robert Cushway of Sterling, Alaska and Robert Weaver and Jeanne Whalen of Aberdeen, Wash. She is the granddaughter of Walter and Marie Moore of Port Orange, Fla. and the late Robert and Inogene Weaver. She is an alumnus of Bradshaw Mountain High School in Prescott Valley, Ariz. and a 2002 graduate of J.M. Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, Wash. She is a certified nursing assistant and is currently working toward her nursing degree at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.

The couple will be united in marriage on Aug. 27, at Scout Lake Bed & Breakfast in Sterling, Alaska. Following the honeymoon to Cabo, San Lucas, they will reside in Soldotna, Alaska.
