On Friday, Dec. 19, Live Oak Outreach and the Toys For Tots program handed out toys to 213 children and Christmas baskets with a ham and other items to 92 families.

The families had a merrier Christmas thanks to the local businesses, clubs, churches and individuals who donated time, money and new toys to help these children. Toys and/or money to purchase toys were donated by the following: United Way of the Coastal Bend, Valero Three Rivers Refinery, Three Rivers Rotary Club and Earlyn Tompkins.

Food donations were received from the Dorcas Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, George West, and several individuals from Three Rivers and George West, Many hours of work were donated by the “shoppers” who purchased the toys and the workers who organized and handed out the gift bags: Pat and Billy Jarratt, Jamye Royal, Jimmie Coquat, Bob and Mary Appling, Josh and Ruben Gutierrez, Charles and Donna Nystrom, Celia Palm, Kenley, Tammy, and Ryan Rands, Allison Sample, Jeannie, Kayten, and Kassidy Snider, and Ann Snuggs.

Volunteers who organized food baskets included: Sue Dobie, Jenny Gerth, Cindi Robinson, Ann Snuggs and Jo-Ann Thorns. Many thanks to all who made Christmas extra special for the less fortunate of Live Oak County.
