4-H offers so many projects besides just livestock (pigs, beef, goats, etc.). You can look at projects in Food & Nutrition, Clothing & Textiles, Leadership or anything else you might be interested in.

KARNES COUNTY 4-H CLUB MEETINGS

The 4-H Club meetings for Karnes County are listed as follows: Falls City 4-H, 1st Sunday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Falls City AG Shop. Karnes City 4-H Club, 3rd Sunday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Karnes County Show Barn, Kenedy 4-H Club, 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:15 p.m. at the Kenedy Fire Station. Lonesome Dove 4-H, 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Small World Day Care, Panna Maria 4-H, 1st Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Panna Maria Snoga Store. Runge 4-H Club, 2nd Sunday of the month at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

WILD FIRE FAMILY DONATIONS

The Texas AgriLife Extension Office is the drop off for all contributions for the victims of the divesting fires that occurred around Bastrop, Texas. Items can be dropped off at the

County Extension Office in Karnes City at the Annex Building. Please call 830-780-3906 before coming so we can assist you in the drop off. Clothing, bedding, bath, baby items & formula and school supplies are really needed to help these families. Thank you for the support and generosity.

2012 QUALITY COUNTS COMPLETION

If you are planning on showing at the 2012 Major Livestock Shows, please make sure you complete The Quality Counts Program located online at qualitycounts.tamu.edu. Once you completed this program, you will receive a Verification Number that we need here at the Extension office for completion of Major Show entries.

4-H ENROLLMENT

4-H Connect is up and running for the 2011-2012  school year. If you have trouble remembering your password please contact me.

Go to http://texas.4honline.com & register for 4-H. 4-H has open enrollment, so if you know anyone who is still interested please tell them to let me know and we can get them signed up!!!!  The fee for the year is $20 until September 30, then will go up to $25 per child.  Adult volunteers will not be charged.

LIVESTOCK JUDGING

There will be a Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, September 24th in Guadalupe County, Seguin, Texas, deadline for signing up is Friday, September 16th.

Contest registration starts at 8am.

VALIDATION FOR MAJOR SHOW GOATS AND LAMBS

Validation of all Major Show Lambs and Goats will be on Monday, October 17th from 5pm to 7pm at the Karnes County Show Barn in Kenedy.

4-H NEWSLETTER FALL 2011

The 4-H Newsletter have been mailed to each 4-H Family. If you have not received one, please call the Extension Office and we will check your current address that we have from your enrollment file. Also we have mailed the Pecan Fund Raising Packets. Dates are earlier this year for the deadline; orders to Club Managers by Friday, October 14th; Club Managers are asked to turn all orders/ monies in to the County Extension Office, Friday, October 21st.

This necessary to have the orders shipped to us by December 1st.

MAYOR SHOW CORRECTION FOR FORT WORTH LIVESTOCK SHOW

Change the date on the Steer Show to Jan. 23 – 27. Please correct this on your Newletter.
