SKIDMORE – On Saturday afternoon, the Skidmore-Tynan Lady Cats improved their district record to 7-1 with a three-set sweep of the visiting San Diego Lady Vaqueros.

The scores were 25-15, 25-13, 25-16 in the 3-0 win of the best of five match. The victory gives the Lady Cats a 21-7 record on the year.

“The Lady Cats took care of business defeating San Diego. The Lady Cats dominated in all three games,” said head coach Judy Whatley.

All three games played out much the same. The Lady Cats’ service game was a key as was the S-T defense; nothing hit the floor. Several Lady Cats got points off kills with Kathy Acosta leading the way with seven kills. D’Anne Wilder followed with six while Samantha Minter and Amber Hughlett each added four kills. Sara Rix hit for three kills and Brittany Garza contributed one kill.

In their service game, Aaliyah East hit for three aces as did Acosta. Rix had two and Minter served one ace in the win. East came up big on defense with 13 digs. Wilder had six digs and Minter contributed with five digs. Rix added three, Acosta two and Erica Abrigo had one dig.

Garza led the team with 15 assists and Wilder set up eight points for assists. Acosta had one assist and one block at the net in the victory.

The Lady Cats played Refugio at home on Tuesday night and will be in Banquete on Saturday to meet the Lady Bulldogs.
