City Manager Tom Ginter announced Friday that the city would begin notifying residents over the weekend of the restrictions.
The order requires city residents to restrict lawn watering and refrain from irrigating lawns between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Evaporation levels are highest during that part of the day.
The order also means that city residents must not allow water to run down gutters and leaky faucets and plumbing must be repaired.
“We understand that some people have water wells,” Ginter said this week. Those residents will not be required to comply with the rationing orders.
“We will probably be out this week looking for violators,” Ginter added. Residents who are not complying with the restrictions will be given a warning.
“We just want to make sure people understand it and are aware of it,” Ginter said.
