Scores of the sets were 25-11, 14-25, 22-25, 26-24 and 15-6.
The first set was a dominating win for the Lady Cats but the Badgers came right back at them in set two to tie the best of five match at 1-1.
Set three was close and just three points separated the two teams at the end with the host Lady Badgers getting the edge for a 2-1 lead in the match. The Lady Cats were forced to win set four to stay in the match and they did just that in a very close contest that went to extra points, 26-24.
The race to 15 to settle the tight match was all S-T as the Lady Cats used their strong service game and stout defense to run away with the final set 15-6 for the 3-2 victory.
Kathy Acosta led the Lady Cats with 12 kills in the match while D’Anne Wilder contributed nine kills as did Samantha Minter. Brittany Garza set up 12 points for assists. Wilder hit for 10 aces in the five sets. Aaliyah East had 10 digs on defense for the Lady Cats and Wilder came up with seven digs. Acosta was tough on defense at the net with five blocks on the night.
The Lady Cats repeat as district champs and will have a first round bye in the postseason. Opponent and site are yet to be determined.
