Refugio Karate Team earns top honors at Karate Championships

The Refugio Karate Team swept the Texas Four Seasons Karate Championship on Oct. 29, in Victoria.

The team earned the grand championship, 16 first place trophies; and five second place.

“The team performed extremely well,” said Instructor/Coach Billy Swinney. “We worked our tails off and it shows by the number of trophies we brought home.”

Swinney will represent Team Refugio at the World Games this December and the rest of the team will compete in Victoria on Jan. 29.
