Mr. Salas was born in Gonzales on Oct. 19, 1925. He enjoyed ranching, hunting and spending time at his family ranch.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Salas; and his parents, Justo and Francisca Salas.
Survivors include one son, Pete (Irene) Salas Jr. of Beeville; five grandchildren, Michael (Sandra) Salas, Pete (Sandy) Salas III, Sonia (David) Guerra, Samantha (Martin) Reyna and Sarah Benavidez; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial rosary was held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Treviño Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
