Woman injured in Kenedy shooting

KENEDY – Gunshots rang out on a Kenedy street in the early morning hours of Dec. 18, leaving one person hospitalized.

At approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots being fired near the intersection of Fifth and Margaret streets in Kenedy.

According to Kenedy Police Chief Duane DuBose, several shots had been fired at a vehicle that was occupied by three individuals.

One of the bullets went through the side of the car and struck a female passenger in the back.

The victim was transported to Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital and was later airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

DuBose said that during a preliminary investigation, the alleged shooter was identified as Jesse Salinas of Kenedy.

Police have issued three warrants charging Salinas with aggravated assault.

No arrest has been made at this time.

Police are still investigating what prompted the shooting.
