Gilberto Richardo Davila, age 64, of George West died on Jan. 9, 2011. He was born to Gilberto Richardo Davila and Carolina Rangel Davila on April 12, 1947 in Corpus Christi. He served in the US Army. He married Paula Garibay on Dec. 31, 1985 in Mathis. He worked in marketing for Andrews Distributing. He was a Christian and a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Eddie Davila and Rey Perez, Jr; a grandchild, Jareen Ray Davila and a brother, Benjamin Davila.

He is survived by his wife Paula Garibay Davila of George West, six children, Gilberto Daniel (Erika) Davila of George West; Gilberto R. ( Cynthia) Davila, Jr. of San Antonio; Michael (Melissa) Davila of San Antonio; Michael (Judy) Perez of Mathis; Elvia (Andy) Vela of George West and Yvette (Andre) Ortiz of Corpus Christi; one sister, Mary Alice (Pete) Salazar of Corpus Christi; three brothers, Eddie (Elizabeth) Flores of Corpus Christi; David (Sylvia) Davila of Corpus Christi and Danny Davila of Denver, CO.; 18 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday (today), Jan. 11 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Galloway Chapel in George West with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of George West, officiated by Rev. John Ferrell. Burial will follow at the George West Cemetery.
