There are several ways people can do this. The sponsorship of ribbons, premium money, and other donations are welcomed. Premium money is paid to the top three exhibitors in each class, depending on the amount we receive. The auction will begin at 2 p.m. with about 75 animals in these this year.
Livestock judging will begin at 7:30 a.m. if you are interested in coming and watching the exhibitors show their animals. We will begin with rabbits and poultry and the do large animals; swine, goats, lambs, and beef.
There are also six syndicates that pool their money to purchase animals at the sale. For those who feel that they cannot buy an entire animal alone, this is an excellent way to donate as much as they wish and let the person in charge bid. For those who need the names of these, please call and we can discuss this. They represent different areas of McMullen County and a syndicate from Atascosa County.
Remember, these youth are members of 4-H and FFA organizations of McMullen County, and they would really appreciate the help. For more information, you may call Sheila Kuenstler at (210) 355-3479, Tiffany Serrata, secretary, at 449-6105, Isaac Cavazos, CEA-Ag at 274-3323, or Jim Harris, VAT, at 274-2000. The board will also be selling BBQ plates at lunch time. Thank you for all your past support and we hope to see you on Jan. 28th.
