Badgers beat George West, 58-56

Putting in the extra effort, running the court, and accomplishing necessary plays were keys to Friday night’s win against George West.

The Badgers defeated George West in a close one 58-56. Seniors Brady Braun and D.C. Williams scored 18 points apiece, followed by Junior K.D. Glenn with 9.

“When the going gets tough we keep going.” Junior Philip Vaughn said.

The Badgers fought the entire game, at the end of the first quarter the badgers were down 13-10, but by the end of the second quarter were tied 28-28, the Badgers took the lead in the third quarter putting the score at 41-36, and they battled throughout the fourth quarter to maintain the win.

The JV Badgers dominated over George West 72-53.

Both boys’ teams travel to Dilley Friday with games beginning at 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 24:

With the crowd roaring, and two minutes left in the fourth quarter the Badgers were down 58- 55, but with time running down, and Poth scoring two free throws, and a given up layup. The Badgers were unable to respond leaving the score at 62-55.

“We had chances to win and come up short, we played a lot better last night then we have the past three games,”

Head Coach Sean Armstrong said. “Our effort and energy was outstanding last night. We missed free throws in the first half that really hurt us late.  We played good defensively, but Poth made some huge shots in clutch situations. “

At the end of the first quarter the Badgers led 11-8, but by halftime were down 26-24, by the end of the third quarter the Badgers were only down by three points.

The Badgers were neck and neck with the Pirates the entire game. Junior K.D. Glenn led the Badgers with 13 points, followed by Senior Brady Braun with 12, and Freshmen Dylan Wright with 10.
