The ladies began district in Dilley on Dec. 13 and won 49-26. M. Snider had 12 points, Brysch and Jimerson added nine each, Villafranca dropped in eight while Mathis was close behind with seven, Wasicek and Sanchez each had two. Brysch had ten rebounds, Cansino had three assists and Mathis had six steals.
George West stayed home on the Dec. 16, hosting the Lady Pirates of Poth and lost, moving their record to 1-1.
The next Tuesday was action packed when the Lady Horns and Longhorns took on Jourdanton. When the final buzzer rang GW was on top 59-35. Brysch led the scoring with 16, M. Snider added 12, Cansino and Mathis each had eight, Jimerson had seven and Wasicek dropped in two. Brysch pulled down 17 rebounds followed by M. Snider with six. Mathis and M. Snider each had three assists and Mathis had four steals.
George West was off until after New Years from district play, but hosted their second annual Christmas tournament. The Lady Horns won the tournament and the Longhorns placed second.
Before the other students were back at school, the Lady Horns were practicing and on Jan. 3 traveled to Karnes City to play and lost the battle that took their district record to 2-2 and their overall record to 15-6.
On Jan. 6, the Lady Bulldogs were in town to try and upset the Lady Horns, but the tables turned and the Lady Horns took the game 45-42 with 17 coming from M. Snider and Brysch adding nine. Brysch and M. Snider had seven rebounds each and Cansino grabbed six followed by Jimerson with five. Mathis had three blocks and M. Snider had three assists and four steals for the game.
Tuesday, Jan. 10, the Lady Horns were on the road once again headed to Natalia and brought home a win 61-44, leaving the court in the first quarter 26-4. It was awesome, everything went their way. M. Snider put in 19, Brysch added 16 and Mathis connected for 12. Brysch and Jimerson collected 21 rebounds and Villafranca and M. Snider rounded up nine assists and Mathis had four steals, Salazar hit down five shot balls.
Back at home on Friday, for the last game in the first round and beat Cotulla 48-42 to move their record to 5-2 in district play and 18-6 overall. Brysch had 11, Mathis added nine, M. Snider had seven, Cansino had six, Wasicek threw in five, Jimerson added four, Villafranca and Salazar each had two. Brysch and Jimerson collected 17 rebounds, Mathis had eight blocks and five steals and M. Snider had six assists.
