BEEVILLE – The junior varsity soccer Lady Trojans field just nine players but that was enough to capture a 4-0 win over Floresville on Friday night.

“The girls played well and strong for only having nine players on the field. I can’t be more proud of these girls as we triumphed over adversity,” said JV coach Caleb Barber.

The first 40 minutes were pretty closely played with neither team posing much of an offensive threat. The Lady Trojans broke through with an Emily Head goal to take a 1-0 lead that held up the entire first half. The goal was off a booming free kick that slid by the Jag keeper.

Head was not going to be denied. In the second half, the Lady Trojan forward broke away and dominated the Jags with three goals over a span of 10 minutes. Her first goal of the second half came at the 21:56 mark. Head’s third goal of the evening was made just four minutes later as she again found the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.

The final goal was again by Head as she beat the goal keeper with a good kick as she broke away from the Floresville defenders.

The 4-0 score held up the rest of the way to give the Lady Trojans a 4-0 win and a 1-0 record in District 57-4A play.

The Lady Trojans were in Pleasanton on Tuesday night and will be in San Antonio on Friday night to meet McCollum.
