KENEDY – The Kenedy Rotary Club presents the Miss Karnes County Pageant on Saturday, February 25, at 7 p.m. at the Kenedy High School Auditorium. The festivities include the Little Mister and Little Miss Karnes County Contest.

The event is a scholarship fundraiser for Karnes County youth from Falls City, Karnes City, Kenedy and Runge.

“Reach within to embrace humanity” is the motto for the Kenedy Rotary Club for 2012 and the theme for this year’s pageant.

The Kenedy Rotary Club’s community efforts includes the Miss Karnes County Pageant, sponsorship of a Rotary Interact Club, sponsorship of the Rotary Bluebonnet Days Pancake Breakfast, the Dictionary Project that supplies dictionaries for local schools, assistance to the Karnes City Lonesome Dove Fest event and many other activities.

The annual barbecue chicken dinners that are sold also benefit the scholarship funds.

This year’s Master of Ceremony is Candace Angell. Entertainment chairman, Tobe Ricks, has announced that Karnes County’s own John Wayne Schulz will perform as entertainment for the evening.

Rotary members invite everyone to come out and have some fun and support the students. Miss Karnes County pageant contests are selling tickets, competing with each other to win an additional book scholarship with the contestant selling the most tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door that evening. Adult tickets are 5$, students and children ages six and under are free.
