BEEVILLE – Three Lady Trojan powerlifters have qualified to lift at the upcoming Region IV meet at Calallen on March 3 to attempt to qualify for the state meet in Corpus Christi in the middle of March.

Region IV is a big area and encompasses schools from the south side of San Antonio to those in the Valley.

To qualify for the region meet, a lifter must have one of the top 10 totals for the year within her respective weight class.

Returning powerhouse Elizabeth Segovia is ranked first in the super-heavyweight division and will be looking for her fourth straight trip to the state meet. Segovia finished third in state last year but is ranked first in the state this year, 45 pounds better than her nearest rival.

In the 165-pound class, the Lady Trojans have two lifters in the region top 10. Zehila Farias is ranked second and newcomer to the sport Alexis Pelitire is ranked 10th. Both will make it to the Region IV meet at Calallen.
