The newly named Margaret Moser Memorial Lenten Luncheon series at St. Philip’s Church opens Tuesday, March 6, with a presentation by Corpus Christi native Leigh Watson on her book “Nine Miracles in a Day.”

The ecumenical outreach was begun in 1970 by Moser and is co-sponsored by the women of St. Philip’s, Faith Lutheran, First United Methodist and First Presbyterian churches. However, men are also invited to attend.

Each event begins with lunch served from 11:30 a.m. until noon, with the program beginning by 12:05 p.m. and ending by 1 o’clock. The cost is $7 per program or $25 for the series.

Reservations must be made by calling the St. Philip’s office at 358-2730 by the Friday afternoon preceding the luncheon; those who make series reservations only need to call for the first luncheon and will be automatically included in the next three.

On March 13, the Rev. Linda Sherry, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will present “Far and Near,” a meditation based on Ephesians 2:8-22.

The Rev. Jeff Brewer, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pettus, will speak on “The Love of God: What Fellowship Really Means” on Tuesday, March 20.

The Rev. Gary Conklin, interim pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, will conclude the series with a presentation entitled “Here I Am, Lord: My Calling” on March 27.

The community is invited to attend the series in preparation for the Easter season.
