ORANGE GROVE – The Skidmore-Tynan Lady Cat varsity softball team jumped in front of the host Bulldogs but could not hold on as the OG girls posted a 10-2 victory on Friday night.

The Lady Cats got two runs in the top of the first to start on the right track. Both runs were knocked in by Miranda Tagle.

The Lady Cats held on to their 2-0 advantage through three and a half innings. The Lady Bulldogs struck for four runs in the home half of the fourth to take the lead at 4-2 entering the final two frames.

The offense struggled for the Lady Cats, and they were blanked the rest of the way. Orange Grove moved three runs across home plate in both the fifth and sixth innings to put the game out of reach and capture a 10-2 win.

Dominque Vara was in the circle for the S-T girls.

“Errors hurt our girls in the final inning,” said coach Sam Rodriguez.

The Lady Cats opened district on Monday night when the Bishop Lady Badgers paid a visit to Skidmore.
