GWJH tennis competes in OG

Bethany Davis, eighth grade, claimed second place in the Orange Grove junior high tournament on Saturday, March 3 after defeating players from Beeville and Orange Grove.

Also playing in the eighth grade division were Preston Smith (singles), Trent Schroeder and Zane Howell (doubles) and Kayla Strause and Nayeli Morin (doubles).

In seventh grade, Hunter Powell played singles while Kelly Lillie and Vanessa Rodriguez played doubles. The junior high program has really taken off this year with a current total of 19 players.

Due to rain, the next scheduled tournament (Beeville) was canceled. However, the junior high team will compete in dual matches against Tilden on Tuesday, March 20 beginning at 4:30 p.m. in George West.

Junior High district tennis is scheduled for Saturday, March 31 in Dilley.
