They easily defeated their competition, even in the championship match beating George West 6-0, 6-2.
“I definitely felt confident,” Peralez, a senior, said of the April 3 and 5 district meet in Dilley. “We have worked hard all year, and we’ve played them before so we knew what to expect. We came out of the starting blocks with 100 percent.”
In Varsity Boys’ Singles, Chance’s little brother, Freshman Chayse Leal, placed 3rd and is a regional alternate, beating a Jourdanton player. Freshmen Brandon Harrin and Robert Morin also won 3rd and are regional alternates. The doubles partners faced the second place George West team in the semi-finals; they split sets and had to go to a third set the score was 6-4( KC), 5-7 (GW) and 6-4(GW).
The Varsity Girls doubles team of Krysttal Renteria and Alyssa Castillo placed 4th, losing their third place match to Dilley in three sets 6-4(Dilley), 5-7 (KC) and 6-4 (Dilley ). Freshman Haleigh Warlick won 4th in singles, falling in three sets to a Jourdanton athlete.
