The First United Methodist Church of Refugio’s Youth Fellowship cleaned a stretch of U.S. 77 in the Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off on April 7.

The First United Methodist Church of Refugio’s Youth Fellowship group cleaned a two-mile stretch of U.S.77 south of the Mission River Bridge to Toups Road on April 7 in the Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off.

The Trash Off is a state-wide highway cleanup day where groups all across the state pick up litter along our road ways. Nineteen members of the local youth group collected 46 bags of trash in approximately four hours.

“We would like to thank, the members of the First United Methodist Church for lunch, the Refugio Police Department and the Refugio Sheriff’s Office for the close patrols,” said Carl Andrew Curry, youth leader.

“Thanks to all the youth who showed up,” said Sharon Currie, youth sponsor.

Participants include Brian Dodson, Halei Williams. Raeven Barraza, LaTerrian Perkins, Katie Snyder, Ally Coscetti, Monica Padron, Matrin Young, Sarah Dodson, Felicia Wills, Aaron Fellers, Dustin Skrobarcek, Celena Dodson, Jacob Skrobarcek, Meghan Saunders, Jared Skrobarcek, Jessie Juarez.

“You have done a great service for the taxpayers of Texas and made your communities better and brighter,” the leaders said. “Thank you for your commitment and volunteer spirit.”
