Garza provided the members with the Exchange List for Diabetes, a weekly menu, recipes and a meeting schedule card.
Garza also explained the method of trading one food for another under the same food groups.
“A healthy diet doesn’t mean you have to give up your favorite foods,” Garza said.
A key part of taking care of your blood sugar levels is learning what to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat.
A set time for each meal and snack is very important, Garza said.
Verna Jones, RN, provided booklets on “Preventing Falls.”
