Pettus Eagles two-hit Beavers behind Beck in season finale

FALLS CITY – In the season finale for the Eagles, pitcher Ryan Beck two-hit the Beaver varsity baseball team for a 6-1 Eagle victory on Monday.

The Eagles got all the runs they would need in the top of the first. Three Eagles made it across the plate for an early 3-0 Pettus advantage.

The Pettus boys scratched for a single run in the top of the third to move to a 4-0 margin over the Beavers. Falls City finally scored their lone run of the game off Beck in the home half of the fourth to make it a 4-1 contest.

The Eagles added two insurance runs in the sixth to make the final 6-1.

Beck went the distance to record his fourth district win against two losses. He gave up just two hits over seven innings and struck out 13 Beavers in the process.

Offensively, the Eagles got two hits from several players. Anthony Mendoza went 2-3 with one run scored. Taylor Yeoman also went 2-4 with two runs scored. Beck helped himself at the plate with two hits in three trips with one double and three RBIs. Clay Brown was 2-4 with one RBI on the night. Lane Kruger was also credited with one run knocked in. Coby Gonzales had one hit in four plate appearances with one run scored. Zack Gonzales worked for one free pass. Matt Gonzales collected one hit in four trips. Dylan Dunn earned two walks and one RBI.

The Eagles finished with a 4-6 district record and were 8-11 overall this year.
