Regarding your recent article about uranium exploration, Mr. Art Dohmann, a board member of the Goliad County Groundwater Conservation District, has his facts wrong about uranium exploration.
It’s unfortunate that someone in a leadership position and authority would distribute inaccurate information to the general public. Dohmann claims “there is a statutory requirement for testing domestic water wells, but testing prior to borehole drilling is not specified. In addition, there are no specified procedures for baseline testing.” Both of these statements are false.
The law governing uranium exploration clearly specifies the testing requirements that companies must comply with in order to receive an exploration permit from the Texas Railroad Commission (see 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Section 11.141 and 11.142). Uranium Energy Corp follows the letter of the law and complies fully with all regulations governing the uranium industry. For Mr. Dohmann to suggest otherwise is irresponsible.
