The letter to the editor on May 12 by Rodrigo Flores is the truth. It’s a fact that elections are around the corner, and we know who the city council members and county commissioners are.
One senior commissioner wrote me a letter to my home on July 7, 2010, to intimidate me and try to deprive me of my First Amendment right to freedom of speech for expressing my opinion in the newspaper against him for “grandstanding” on information that he had obtained.
Or a commissioner who votes for a new position for the county and then votes to eliminate the position for lack of funding when notified of an illegal dump of tires by said employee.
It is a shame that when litigation of the tires is concluded, the cleanup of the problem of the hazardous dump will be done at the Bee County taxpayers’ expense.
Our city and county leaders may not care, but we should care by voting and voicing our opinion.
