Making music that matters was the headline that Steve Paschal wrote in the July 27 issue of the Refugio County Press back in 2002. We had just started the show in February and he was being complimentary to us for giving three $200 scholarships to graduates of Refugio County High Schools.

On June 7, the Refugio Country Opry will be presenting checks to Refugio County students totaling $4,000 in scholarships which will put us awarding over $55,000 since we started. Not bad for a monthly show.

At our anniversary show in February, we had close to 800 in the Expo center. All chairs were full and some standing in the back. Judge Rene Mascorro said he had never seen this many people in the building since it was built. Yes folks, your county judge was there for the entire show.

Why don’t you give us a try?

If you don’t like what you hear, tell us why and we’ll try to fix it. if you do like us, come back again.

The food is great, the music is great, we open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7, the first Thursday of each month, freeze or hot.

We do make music that matters! All of the net proceeds goes to Refugio County students.

One of them could be yours. All comments appreciated!!
