BANQUET
The Kenedy Chamber will be having their annual banquet this Friday, June 15, at Ruhmann Franklin Auditorium, Social Hour – 6-7 p.m., Banquet and Dinner 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.00 and may be purchased from any director or the chamber office (see below). Our theme this year is “Flash Back to the 50’s”. We will be having hamburgers, hot dogs, onion rings, French fries, baked beans and all the trimmings for these items, as well as root beer floats, apple pie and ice cream. The complimentary social hour will have appetizers, beer, wine, margarita’s, and soft drinks. Come join us for a fun evening and wear your 50’s attire!
NEW EMPLOYEE
The chamber hired Brenda Hansler as Executive Director Assistant on May 1, 2012. Brenda comes to us from Odessa, Texas and is living in Runge.
MOVE
The Chamber office is moving this week to a temporary location. Sue Carter has been very generous in allowing us to office in her building (the old Little Red School House building) at 216 W. Main St. The chamber is tearing down the old chamber office building and will be building a new office space. We hope to be in the new building in October. Our phone number will remain the same (583-3223).
NEW BUILDING
The Chamber had a membership meeting on May 2nd, at Best Western meeting room, all members were invited by letter to hear and see the proposal of the new building and to vote on this issue. The consensus was to move forward with the plans. Dell Hallmark of Hallmark Contracting was awarded the project based upon his bid and presentation. An asbestos remediation has to be done before the tear down, and the new building can go up. Mr. Hallmark has given us a projected 100 days for completion. The chamber is very excited about the project and looks forward to being in a new building, same location.
TRIPLE HEAT COOK-OFF
The chamber will hold the Triple Heat Cook-off that was cancelled during Bluebonnet Days due to the wonderful 6 inches of rain we received, on June 23 at Joe Gulley Park. Teams may move in on the 22 and set up. If you need an entry form, contact the office or Joe Sheeran at Dynasty. We look forward to having a good turn out and hope that you can join us.
