The Goliad County Groundwater Conservation District will begin accepting filings for the three board positions up for election in November 2012.

Applications will be accepted from July 20 through Aug. 20. The applications are available at the Groundwater District office at 118 S. Market St. or on the district’s website at www.goliadcogcd.org.

The applications must be submitted to Barbara Smith at the district office in person.

The election will be held at the same time as the November general election on Nov. 6.

GCGCD directors are elected to serve in one of seven places on the board. The positions up for election this year are Places, 2, 4, and 6.

While candidates must file for a specific place, all places are elected at-large, meaning everyone in the county votes for the position. The positions up for election are held by Joe Kozielski (Place 2), John Dreier (Place 4) and Art Dohmann (Place 6).

GCGCD directors are elected on a rotating basis every two years. Each director is elected for a four-year term.

For more information, call Barbara Smith at 645-1716.
