Karnes County Judge Barbara Najvar Shaw and Karnes County Commissioners have designated the week of July 15-21, 2012 as Probation, Parole, and Community Supervision Week.

PROCLAMATION:

WHEREAS, community corrections is an essential part of the justice system; and community corrections professionals uphold the law with dignity, while recognizing the right of the public to be safe-guarded from criminal activity; and community corrections professionals are responsible for supervising adult and juvenile offenders in the community; and community corrections professionals are trained professionals who provide services and referrals for offenders; and community corrections professionals work in partnership with community agencies and groups; and community corrections professionals promote prevention, intervention and advocacy; and community corrections professionals provide services, support and protection for victims; and community corrections professionals advocate community and restorative justice; and community corrections professionals are a true Force for Positive Change in their communities.

Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, Judge Barbara Najvar Shaw, Carl Hummel, Pete Jauer, James Rosales and Tracy Schendel do hereby proclaim July 15-21, 2012 as: Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week. And encourage all citizens to honor these community corrections recognize their achievements.
