Hi! My name is Peggy Hailey, and I'm the Assistant Librarian here at the Runge Public Library. I am also a big, giant book nerd (with the T-shirt to prove it). Why is that important? Because I don't think anyone can read more books than me, and I aim to prove it.

It's very simple. There will be two teams: “Me” and “Everyone Else”. You can sign up to participate at the Runge Public Library. You must have a library card (in good standing) to participate. All books must be checked out through the library so that there's a record. You must read books from the Juvenile Fiction level or above (and you must read the books yourself—being read to doesn't count). Books only count once per card--re-reading doesn't count. 50 pages=1 book. The contest will run from July 18 through Aug. 8 (all books must be turned in by 5:30 on Aug. 8 to count).

If I win, I get bragging rights and a Shrieking Flying Monkey of my very own. If you win, you get a party with refreshments.

I will be posting a synopsis of books read and a running page count on my blog Rampant Biblioholism (HYPERLINK ""

So what do you say, Runge? Care for a little friendly contest? Bring it on!
