The junior varsity contest ended with the Pirates holding a 10-point lead, 43-33, over the Trojans.
“The Pirates took advantage of our turnovers in the third quarter to pull away with the win. Each time we made a run, Rockport countered with a run themselves,” said JV coach Abel Barrera.
“We just didn’t make the key stops when we had to. The team still played hard until the final buzzer.”
Free throw problems also were part of the problem as the Trojan JV hit only six of 18 attempts from the charity stripe.
Ryan Vasquez led the Beeville scoring with 13 points. Chet Sparks followed with eight. Jeffery Stafford sank six points in the loss. Zack Castro had four while Nick Waters contributed two tallies.
The freshman tilt went to the Pirates 42-35. No details were made available.
The Trojans were at home on Tuesday night, hosting the Moody Trojans and will stay in Beeville for Friday night’s contest with the visiting Ray Texans.
