As we approach the final week of the “Throwdown”, the race has tightened. The young people of Runge have responded to my challenge and we're currently running neck and neck (77.80 books for Team Me, 76.58 books for Team Everyone Else).

Team Everyone Else has some powerful friends out there. We're still getting e-mails and letters from around the world, and now Wal-Mart # 524 in Kenedy and Pico # 22 in Runge have agreed to help sponsor the party if Team Everyone Else wins (if I win I'll be having my own little celebration. And getting my Shrieking Flying Monkey Be-Dazzled). Cecil Franke, the Mayor of Runge, has also joined the Team Everyone Else Fan Club. “Go Team Everyone Else! Reading is a doorway to opportunity and to all kinds of people and places you might never meet otherwise. Take Miss Peggy down” said the mayor.
