REFUGIO – ‘A Night at the Casino’ is back once again.

The board of the Boys and Girls Club is hard at work making plans for their 10th Annual Summer Gala set for Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Refugio County Expo Center at the fairgrounds.

Doors open for libations at 6 p.m. with a silent auction underway. The gaming area will open at 7.

A $35 ticket provides one with libations, dinner stations, a silent auction, a short live auction, game money and Vegas-style games; all for your evening’s entertainment. Blackjack, Texas Hold’em, and other favorites will be there for your gaming pleasure. Table sponsorships are available.

The Boys and Girls Club of Refugio County, operating under the umbrella of the Beeville Boys and Girls Club is not for profit organization providing services and programs for the children of this county ages six to 18.

During the school year we offer after-school care, homework tutoring, arts and crafts and an organized basketball league. In the summer, the club is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with meals, planned recreation and enriching out-of-town field trips.

“We feel that the Boys and Girls Club provides children with a safe place to spend their time,” said Nan Linney, board member.

The Boys and Girls Club is funded through grants and donations.

“The Summer Gala is our major fund raiser and we appreciate the support the community gives us at this time,” Linney said. “Come on out and join us Aug. 25.”
