The Lady Trojan varsity soccer girls were in Floresville on Friday night and the Beeville ladies blanked the Jaguars 5-0 to improve their District 57-4A record to 4-1.
All of the Lady Trojans’ district wins have been by shutouts.
The Lady Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the first half with a Carissa Elizalde header off a kick from Mary Larakers that hit the goal’s crossbar. The Beeville girls made a 2-0 match just before the end of the first half as Elizalde crossed the ball from the left side of the field and a waiting Natalie Elder tapped the ball into the back of the net before the Floresville keeper could react.
The Lady Trojans continued their offensive push in the second half, getting three goals over the last 40 minutes and keeping the Jaguars caged. Elder got one more goal in the second half and forward Rebecca Weaver connected for two scores.
“Rebecca made a great left-footed shot from the left side of the field. The shot was outside the box and sailed over the goalie’s outstretched hands and into the back of the net,” said Lady Trojan coach Robert Partida.
Defensively, the Lady Trojans got good games from Audrey Jones, Alexandrea Casarez, Jamie Blackwell, Sonia Calica and keeper Morgan McKinney.
“Morgan had several awesome saves from shots that were taken point blank to keep her shutout alive,” said Partida.
The Beeville JV and varsity girls hosted Southside on Tuesday night and will hit the road to Pleasanton on Friday night for a pair of games. The JV contests are scheduled to kick things off at 5 p.m. with the varsity games beginning at about 7 o’clock.
