The Lady Trojan varsity and junior varsity soccer teams traveled to Pleasanton last Friday night and both teams suffered shutouts at the hands, or should it be feet, of the Eaglettes.

The JV contest kicked things off on Friday evening. The Lady Trojans played well but a few bounces and kicks went the way of the home team in a 3-0 victory for the young Eaglettes.

JV coach Melinda Trevino acknowledged the fine play of the two Lady Trojan goal keepers, “Both girls (Alison Patterson and Monica Gara) played well. Everyone really played well offensively for us and our passing was good.”

The varsity game was a defensive battle. The Eaglettes got two early first half goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The first score came at about the six-minute mark as a high shot was over the out-stretched hands of Beeville keeper Morgan McKinney and hit the back of the net. The second score came 10 minutes later off a direct kick that was then headed into the net past McKinney.

The second half was all defense as neither team could get another kick past their respective keepers.

“The Lady Trojans fought hard for the rest of the game and we took a couple of shots at the Lady Eagles’ goal but were not successful in getting a ball into the back of the net. The Lady Trojans played an excellent game,” said Beeville head coach Robert Partida.

The Lady Trojans are back on the playing field this Friday night with a second round district match with the Harlandale Indians in San Antonio.

The Beeville ladies will close out their district schedule next week with two home games. On Tuesday night, the play host to the McCollum Cowgirls and then next Friday night the Floresville Jaguars will pay a visit to Beeville to challenge the Lady Trojans.
